My senior collection; is for the optimistic, outgoing and creative women. When I traveled to Colima, Mexico I found the architecture and culture fascinating. Three elements caught my attention: roses, structured lines and vibrant colors. The culture and elements of Colima inspired me to create a collection featuring structured style lines mixed with soft elements. Further inspiration was found in my grandmother’s floral embroidery which I transformed into a print.

Floral print I created

This pattern was created by scanning the embroidered rose into Photoshop. Then creating a repeating pattern. After the print was finalized I uploaded the image into Spoonflower website, to order my print in a satin fabric.

Embroidered rose

Making pleats for the Honey Comb Smocking.

Pinning the pleats in place while I hand stitch.

This is how it looks, after the third row is done.

This is the finish product. The Honey Comb Smocking was created on a sleeve.
